Wayfarer Saab Parts
Challenge:
This project for my JavaScript class (WEB 325) was to create a site that utilized a shopping cart function and various other JavaScript functions.
Solution:
The site uses cookies to transfer the data to the checkout page instead of using a database.
To allow for expandability of the pages, I designed this site different from my usual way. I created a header and footer that were flexible enough to be used on all the pages but allowed for any number of items or lines of text to be displayed.
The design is decidedly more masculine while also hinting at an exclusivity that exists among the used car owners.
Results:
As an exercise in the use of HTML, CSS and JavaScript it is quite successful (I got an A!), but as web technologies continue to move swiftly it is a dated model. Given the sophistication of open source ecommerce applications available to use I would use something along the lines of Magento instead. Plus, the experience would be an investment.
