marketing integrated graphic design and web development

This site of three games was created as part of a group project in a server-side programming class. The group consisted of a more experienced programming major, Cody, myself, and a less experienced web student, Christina. Directive was given that Cody was to act in a mentor-like manner. While the group varied greatly in experience it was successful in becoming cohesive and producing a very successful set of games.
The group created two games together that uses Perl and utilizes a database and HTML templates to implement various features to create a more varied user experience. I created the graphics with Illustrator based on stock images and when available or possible, multiple images where created for variety.
The classic match game uses multiple graphics and skill levels to make the game stickier. The letter game is based on the "See 'n Say" toy. Younger children hear the name of the animal, which they associate with the image and learn to associate the animal to the correct letter. This project was a turning point in my programming education. The addition of server-side controls reinforced the value of returning to school as opposed to trying to change careers without a formal programming education.
